HashOnClick 2.9.0 | 4.9 MB
HashOnClick quickly and easily provides information to compare hash values side by side to establish the data in one file exactly matches (or not) the data in another. Ensure that the files you receive haven’t been tampered with. The program supports MD5, CRC32, SHA-1, MD4 hashing, RipeMD-128 hashing, RipeMD-160 hashing, SHA-256 hashing, SHA-512 hashing,• SHA-2 hashing (from 224 to 512/256), Tiger hashing, Ultra-fast xxhash32 and xxhash64 hashing.
Uses for HashOnClick
There are many reasons why you may wish to find out the hash value of a file. Many web sites for example list the MD5 value of a file, so that when you download it you can check to see if the file on your computer is correct. Some FTP servers also let you retrieve the MD5 value of a file (via the XMD5 FTP extension).
CRC32 values are used in Zip files, and some FTP servers also let you retrieve the CRC32 value of a file (via the XCRC FTP extension).
xxhash is is an extremely fast non-cryptographic hash algorithm, working at speeds close to RAM limits. If you are using a hash value for your own purposes, and is not shared, and need a hash value calculated very quickly, then xxhash is the one to use.
Another example of using HashOnClick is when you’ve copied a file from one location to another, and wish to confirm the files are identical. HashOnClick provides you with SHA-1 and SHA-2 hash values so that you can make absolutely certain the file is an exact match in both locations.
